Day 461 – Monday 31st July 2006

The Last Daily Blog :-(

A cracking day today. Karen seems REALLY to be looking forward to tackling the upcoming days on her own, with me starting work tomorrow. Today, she tried to get dressed fully herself. No socks to do (too hot), so no problems there. But she came a cropper with the bra. Someone should invent a meccano set that can be surgically fitted to a woman to prop up the bosom area. There is a fortune to be made there. Would save so much time for all women and would save a small fortune in bras.

Anyway, she got it linked up around the middle and pulled it round and got one coconut in the hammock, but struggled with the other. Cue dp.

This shouldn’t be a problem generally as when I am not there she’ll just not put a bra on. If she is going out, she’ll probably persevere more and then ring me up for some advice.

I worked from home in the morning and kp slept until about 12pm. This afternoon, we went round the shops to post some letters, taking the dogs with us and then carried on a bit further to take them for a walk.

kp’s challenge for next week (according to her) is to go round to the shop on her own. Thankfully no roads to cross.

With that over, she phoned Angela (other lady from car crash) and had a long conversation with her.

More phone conversations took up her whole afternoon but she really enjoyed them.

I got a photo of Karen with BOTH thumbs up, indicating she is ready for me to go back to work……..

So, the last daily blog……..From now on, unless I can persuade Marie or Karen to write it, it will be weekly, probably sometime over the weekend.

Actually, I say that, I’ll probably not be able to resist doing it during my lunchbreak or something. We’ll see – assume weekly.

Big thanks to everyone who reads the blog and especially those who brave to comment. The comments really have spiced kp’s life up and helped her recovery.

Hi Karen and David, good to hear you both in good form today. I will miss my daily fix of the blog and knowing how you both are and what you are up to, I will just have to ring more often, so probably not a bad thing (although maybe you disagree having to speak to me more often!).

Good luck with going back full time David, hope not too hectic. Hope you enjoy your time to yourself Karen, will give you a call.
    Lots of love

PS you can still get bras that fasten at the front, maybe John Lewis will do them, or a specialist bra shop will i’m sure. xxx

Come on Karen, I thought you had cracked the bra thing with me?? Yes it’s time consuming but good god it is ten times better knowing you have done it. Call me any time and we will go through the routine together. You did it last week on your own, which in my book means you can do it this week on your own. Don’t forget to look in the mirror to ensure all your womanly bits are in place. You did it last week and I know you can do it again this week.
You take care, I’ll speak tomorrow
    Lots of Love

    David,
thank you so much for the blog, how you kept us all in touch and connected, to you and Karen, you will never know.

This blog, is, was and always will be a point of contact that made me feel I was talking to Karen, even though she and I both know that she didn’t get them all.

If it wasn’t for you and the blog I could not have sent the messages that enabled me to talk to my best friend in her darkest hours. You gave me that opportunity and I will be forever grateful to you. Thank you David and thank you Karen for having such a wonderful husband.

    Lots of Love
    Ronnie
