Day 457 – Thursday 27th July 2006

Cracking Day today.

Although she didn’t get up early, when she did get up, she made the most of the day. She wasn’t in any discomfort after yesterday’s 1/2 mile with Ronnie, so today, the girls (kp, Jane and Ronnie) went to Bowes (a nice place near Barnard Castle). They spent most of the time drinking tea in a cafe and enjoying each other’s company. I didn’t go as a I was working from home.

kp brought me back some fudge – which was nice. I think she got more pleasure in buying me something than I did in eating it and it was very good fudge.

We ate outside and enjoyed the glorious weather.

On the previous night, we had all sat outside, and talk turned to the odd star that we could see in the sky (it was a bit misty). Ronnie had never seen a satellite travelling across the night sky and she didn’t believe in shooting stars. She said she did, but her smirk at me describing them gave it all away.

Anyway, tonight’s sky was much clearer with the mist being much thinner so I said to Ronnie I’d find her a satellite.

It took 30 minutes of patient waiting before a satellite appeared going across the sky. I pointed it out to everyone. Jane and Karen soon lost interest, but Ronnie and I kept watching it.

Then, a shooting star streaked across the sky. Ronnie was impressed and I was chuffed to bits at her having seen her first one.

That’s today. Lovely day.

Day 458 – Friday 28th July 2006

I went to work in the morning, but Karen got up for a cup of tea with me before I had to leave. She returned to bed before I left.
Once back from work, Ronnie, kp & I went to Wolsingham to walk the dogs and to see if Bonnie could swim. kp is keen to increase her stamina and beat the 1/2 mile distance record. We wouldn’t have been far off today, not bad, considering she is only on a 75 and 25 patch (we had run out of 100′s).

The dogs enjoyed the water, messing around on a plateau of 2 inch deep water, but they both made the mistake of thinking everywhere they were was just an inch deep and both of them ran off into a 3 metre deep pool – Yes, they could swim. But they couldn’t get out, cue dp to pull them out by their necks.

Here are Ronnie and kp on the walk…..
