Day 459 – Saturday 29th July 2006

Well, the walk yesterday was too much for Karen and she suffered overnight for her efforts. She had a dream where she was crying in pain, only to wake up and be crying in real life – I didn’t hear a thing :-(

She got up about 9am to have a cup of tea with me when I returned from taking the dogs for a walk but she was irritable.

When she got up for good (about 11.30am), she was like a bear with a sore head. I’d say “Black”, she’d say “White”. I don’t think she was feeling tip-top – lack of sleep and pain aren’t a good combo.
Ronnie and kp, earlier in the week, had done some work on “getting a bra on” on your own with only 1 hand working properly. Ronnie struggled to do it herself initially and had to get topless to work out how it could be done. I wasn’t allowed in the bathroom for this “experience”, which is a shame as Ronnie has a lovely pair of ……… eyelashes.

However, knowing that they were going to do this, I placed a pinhole camera in the bathroom and recorded the event. CLICK HERE to see more.

:-)

So, kp gave me a demo of this new routine. It involves using the what functionality she has in her left arm/hand to hold the bra and then whizz it behind her back to catch it with her right hand. So, she showed me this. But, she had forgot the routine, and held it in her right hand, flinging it back to her left hand, which continually couldn’t catch it – heart breaking. I wasn’t too help on pain of death. But, I couldn’t keep quiet and mentioned that she should try flinging it with her left hand. LOOK OF MURDER on her face, she tried it this way. It took about 4 angry flings before she caught it.

With it caught, she uses her left hand to hold it tight, while she pulls it round the front with her right hand and then ties the bra in front of her. Unfortunately, she couldn’t work out which way round the bra was. It was inside out and one cup was upside down. kp has a problem with shapes/patterns and can’t work out orientations (spacial awareness they call it). I had to step in again. To cut a long story relatively short, she got it done, but was angry that it took my help – I think she had wanted to show me how good she was at it.

:-(

We had a lovely morning with Ronnie, before she departed back to Sunny Surbiton. kp slept most of the afternoon and I think she is a bit more with it this afternoon :-)
