Day 80 – Sunday 17th July – Part Two

I came back on the evening shift to see a kp in her chair looking very excited. I could tell she was pleased to be able to surprise me being in the chair. It was lovely to see and I wasn’t expecting it. She also had some news she was very excited about – namely, that she has been weighed and is over the moon with the result.

I had to guess and suffice to say I was out by more than 2 stone !!!

kp weighs in at ……………….

Just under 9 stone. She was thrilled at this.

Sam visited today. The real one, no decoy ! kp thoroughly enjoyed her afternoon with Marie and Sam. After they left, we went outside for a bit, but in no time at all, her cocchyx was hurting and we were back in bed.

Few tears tonight when I showed her a video of the dogs. I do this over and over again. I say I won’t show her anything to with the dogs again because she cried last time, and I do it again :-( Idiot !

Anyway, thankfully the tears/upset were shortlived.

Marie and kp had been having talks in the afternoon and it appears the shifts may be changing. I won’t be required until 10am, and can leave at 4pm. And Marie can come a lot later and not stay as long. It sounds great and kp seems happy with it.

We’ll give it a few days before we kick it into place.

About 7.30pm tonight kp started to be in pain again :(

She had Diclofenac and then 30 mins later a Tramadol and I left her comfyish ! We even tried putting kp on her front, but that didn’t work out. It wasn’t painful, just not comfy. Fingers crossed she has a good night’s sleep.

  1. vdfromboro says:

    Ok Karen,
the weight is down but sorry to say kiddo, the muscle mass must go up, so get those sand bags on and while you are at it, can you lose some weight for me?
Been at our Karens this weekend,I will speak to Jane and she can pass on the messages to you.

Spoke to Irene last night, she’s so relieved your two ops are out of the way, if worrying would make you better, Irene’s worrying would have done it for you. She doesn’t ring to speak to me anymore, she just calls and says:

“I’m just ringing to see how Karen is”.

By the end of the conversation she says:

“Oh and by the way how are you?” :-)

On every phone call, she sends her love and I forget to blog it -so here’s a bucket full of love (and not forgetting hugs) from Irene XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX.

I won’t tell her about the weight thing as you know what she’ll say

“Well I bet her face is no bigger than a cup!!” :-) :-)

All I can say is that its a good job Irene can’t blog because you would be getting an ear full about your weight loss, but you know it would be heart felt.

Some news from the Dennison clan, Dads been going to physio for 6 weeks, working to build his thigh muscles so his knees don’t hurt so much. He’s been in a catch 22, needs to walk to help his heart but can’t walk far cos of his knees. Needless to say its all worked out really well, his knees now don’t hurt so much and he can walk further and a bit quicker. Hats off to physio. Irenes been bad with her viens – not much the doc can do for her, cream and keep the leg raised. Roys been working 7 days a week for 3 weeks in Belgium, so him and Karen are off to Provence for a week on Thursday for a much needed rest. Laura ended her football season on a high, she got Managers player of the year trophy and Players player of the year trophy. She was convinced she was going to win the 200 meters at the school sports day but didn’t, where she gets her cockiness from I don’t know. She is now fully kitted out in cricket whites, playing every Sunday. Irene’s still worried about her as another birthday party went by in May and yet again she did not invite any girls. When Irene asked her what she wanted for her birthday she said a Fort, Irene rang me and said, “What does she want a bloody Fort for!”. Irene just can’t accept she has a tom boy for a granddaughter.
Jack got another glowing report the other month from school, he ain’t brains of britain, but all the teachers say he puts in every effort and is such a nice kid to teach. Alans not taking them abroad for their hols, guess what, they are going on holiday up north, there’s one thing for sure those kids definitely know where 1 half of their family come from. Thats pretty much it from us Northern Southerners, not forgetting everyone sends their love. Jack and Laura can’t wait for another visit from you and Jane, I can’t remember them laughing so much over Sunday lunch.
So kiddo, glad we’ve all sorted out who Sam is, hopefully they will sort out you pain control soon, best take it orally looking at that bloody photo.
Hope you are up to my long blog and news up date.
As always – thinking of you.
    Take Care
    Veronica
