A very tired kp again today after an AWFUL night’s sleep. She got up at 2.30pm after the plumber had been to try and fix our boiler. After breakfast we changed her patch and knocked it down to 75ug of Fentanyl. Hopefully, she won’t be as tired on that.

At 3.30pm, she went back to bed until Marie arrived at 6pm.

That’s about it.

kp recalled a funny incident from last night. I had been drinking a lot last night, and she said I woke up in the middle of the night, sat bolt upright and said “Have we had tea yet ?”. kp said “no”, and apparently I went straight back to sleep. I have absolutely no recollection of getting to bed or the alleged incident

Tonight is the final of Celebrity Big Brother which I am sure we will be watching.

kp up at 12pm. Doesn’t seem to have been any more in pain for wearing a 75ug Fentanyl Patch overnight. She woke up with her usual aches and pains.

Marie arrived at 12pm and we had breakfast together, before I took them both to get their hair done (AGAIN ! They only had it done last month). PLUS usual pampering, face packs, manicures etc etc.

I am sure it’s worth every bit of £52 (That’s just for kp !)

Strange day today. When I got back from walking the dogs (approx 8.30am), Karen was in the bathroom cleaning her teeth ! Very strange, because she is never up so early, and she normally doesn’t get up until coaxed. I think the 75ug patch must be better for her (sleepwise) than the 100ug version.

I was a bit under the weather today (with the cough that’s doing the rounds), so wanted to go back to bed, so kp joined me and we slept until 1pm.

Our solicitor had asked us to record some footage of Karen doing everyday tasks, so that this can be compared along her recovery to show her improvement. I wanted to get her having a shower, getting dressed and peeling veg. All she would allow was “peeling veg”.

She had a shower herself fine. She is generally fine unless the shampoo falls on the shower floor and then it’s “David !!!!”.

Getting dressed she finds VERY frustrating. But I was strict with myself today and tried to not help. Bras and socks she simply can’t do and I have to help her with those. Everything else she can do, but it takes her for EVER. Knickers have to be thrown like a fishing hook being cast by a fishing rod, to see if she can loop a foot. Invariably, she ends up with 2 feet in the same leg hole

Trousers aren’t much easier. The whole “getting dressed” thing (with me helping for only bra and socks) takes about 15 minutes Now……….if I help, it’s dead easy and there is very little frustration. If I don’t help, she doesn’t get any better/faster at it. It’s a fine line.

With that over, we had breakfast.

Later in the afternoon, I filmed kp trying to cut veg. She didn’t do bad. Carrots, Potatoes and Onions.

Carrots – Gave up frustrated after 2 minutes having 1/4 peeled them. She knocked one of the carrots on the floor (with her left hand) and had no idea she had done that She left the carrots, muttering “That’s bloody it, we are buying pre-cut baton carrots now”

Potatoes – Couldn’t peel them at all with our peeler. She tried doing it with a knife, but again, got frustrated and left it for me.

Onions – I wanted quartered onions for the Roast Pork. She couldn’t peel them at all, and got the knife stuck in, and couldn’t get it out. She gave up.

“Gave Up” is the wrong words. She had HAD ENOUGH and I don’t blame her at all.

I stopped the filming and she broke into tears.

Heartbreaking.

We had the roast. It was nothing special and too much work for too little enjoyment. I am feeling fed up tonight. kp knows it. Probably need to go to bed sooner rather than later.

Both had a bloody awful night’s sleep. It was so cold in the bedroom (with the bedroom window open). I was coughing and spluttering. kp got up at 1am and didn’t come back until 4.30am.

I walked the dogs at 8am and went back to bed as soon as I got back. I was frozen to the core and kp makes a VERY good water bottle.

The big event of the day was kp’s shopping trip. Two of the OT’s came to collect her at 1.30pm. She was well prepared, having spent most of yesterday doing a menu for each day of the week and the resultant shopping list was quite long.

I wasn’t allowed to go !!! Which was weird. The reason was totally legit – I would have a tendency to do most of the shopping hard work, but they were going to make kp do the shopping. kp came back about 4pm and came straight to bed. I was in bed already (feeling rough, aaaaarrrr . We didn’t get up for a further hour or so, but then I caught up on the big event.

She didn’t enjoy it at all. Her legs nearly gave way a couple of times. I estimated she walked further than she did when she walked Elsa the other week.

kp:- It wasn’t just the walking. I had to think at the same time, and I can’t do that anymore.

This made me laugh out loud when she said that. But she really means it ! I know what she means, she finds it hard to walk around a shop layout which she hasn’t experienced for a while, and at the same time, read something, and work out where the items are and then go to that location etc etc etc………..Maybe it will come with time…..

Tonight’s menu is Lasagne (thanks Tracy/Marge), Salad and New Potatoes (and Garlic Bread).

Last night, at the very point I was about to fall asleep, kp said something really lovely to me. It was something like………

kp:- David……

dp (barely awake) :- Mmmmm
kp:- I just want to say that I really love you.

dp :- Thanks love. Can we talk about this in the morning?

Uneventful Day today.

kp was up about 12pm. She was full of aches and pains after yesterday’s shopping trip, but when I offered to put a higher pain relief patch on, she said she wanted to stay on a 75ug Fentanyl Patch.

Marie came this afternoon. She is staying overnight. kp went for a lie-down around 4pm as she was flagging. Need to get her up soon.
