Given the increased likelihood of frequent, heavy snow showers to affect Dumfries & Galloway, Strathclyde, the southern Highlands, much of Perth & Kinross, Forth Valley, west Fife and western parts of the Lothian & Borders during this evening and during Thursday morning, the forecasters have decided to issue an Amber Warning for Snow (based upon medium likelihood of medium impact) across these areas. This is likely to be valid from 1700 this afternoon through until around 1000 on Thursday morning.
